LINKING TO AAII NATIONAL & ITS CHAPTERS
Rev to: Monday, January 31, 2000. This page is obsolete.
"The American Association of Individual Investors is an independent not-for-profit corporation formed in 1978 for the purpose of assisting individuals in becoming effective managers of their own assets through programs of education, information and research". So reads the mission statement of the AAII National organization and its Philadelphia Chapter. Today AAII, headquartered in Chicago, has grown to almost 200,000 members affiliated with more than 60 local chapters, of which the Philadelphia chapter is but one.
To learn more about the AAII National Organization and the benefits of membership, please visit the AAII National Home Page (either directly or via an AOL link). The home pages have been extensively redesigned and expanded. They now incorporate a wealth of older and newer features. Access is free to both members and (until September) to non-members. After that date, non-members will have only limited access.
The home page combines the best features of AAIIs older Web and AOL sites, together with an expanding list of new features. While every feature may not be not fully operational in June, there is enough new content to fill a length visit right now.
Here are just a few of the features available on the sites
- Learn of the benefits of membership in the AAII and Join the AAII
- Order AAII publications, CD-ROMs, and other educational materials
- Register for AAII National Seminars and National Convention
- Communicate with the national organization and use a map-based hyperlink system to contact every local Chapter or hyperlink to their chapter Web-pages (many are worth more than just a look).
- Access a wealth of investor information; including industry/government contacts, "what do it" solutions to common problems, mini-tutorials on the terminology and practices of the investment industry
- Scan the publications index and get most of the studies and articles AAII has published since 1991. No more looking for your misplaced copy of an AAII publication. Get it fast - and see what else AAII has said on the topic.
- Track the famous AAII Shadow Stock List by downloading the latest spreadsheet-formatted summary.
- Download Investment. Shareware, Freeware and Product Demonstrations: An extensive set of PC and MAC software is there for you to "try before you buy" (and much of it is free). There are speadsheet templates, options calculators, fundamental and technical analysis software, personal special purpose calculators, templates for Stock Investor Screens and a host of other useful materials. [Remember Shareware software carries the moral obligation to pay the author on those programs you decide to use. But quality is often at a commercial level, prices reasonable and support personal - so if you find the program useful encourage the author to expand and improve the program by sending in the modest fees.]
- Exchange views on various aspects of investments with fellow members. There are forums for stocks, mutual funds and more. Post a question and see what other members think. It is a new feature so there is only a little there today, but this may become one of AAIIs most useful features.
and much...much more

As does the Philadelphia Chapter, other AAII Chapters maintain interesting Home Pages separately from the AAII National Organization. Here are links to a number of them. But the AAII National Home Page will provide links to all the present sites and new ones as other chapters add theirs.
From time to time, we will add new chapter and other useful links as we find them.
