I'm Steve and I bought a beat-up Catfisher 28 catamaran in August 1999. The boat is a restoration project that is expected to take around two years with me doing most of the work. Hey, what the heck, I can't afford a new one and it's only time, hard work, and a lot less money! I hope to keep a journal here of the major milestones and maybe share some of my successes and blunders for those that might be interested.
June-August 1999 ---- The boat is advertised as needing new cushions. Went to see it in Miami. Boat has been seriously neglected while kept in the Caribean for the past 15 years. Interior is completely trashed. Had the boat surveyed when we agreed on a price. Major problems include blisters (needs a new bottom), some rigging, leaking tanks. Survey showed that the boat is structurally sound. Had it trucked from Miami, FL to Essington, PA.
